Parkinson's Hospital Care in Fl.

The University of South Florida, also known as USF, is making major headway with the expansion of its Parkinson’s disease research department. The doctors who lead this department, such as Dr. Sanchez-Ramos, are increasing services to people with the disease as well as raising more research funds in the hopes that a cure will be found. Parkinson’s caregivers in Clearwater and seniors affected by PD remain hopeful that the medical experts at USF will come up with a solution to this degenerative disease. Here’s some news about what’s been going on within USF’s Department of Neurology.

New Parkinson’s Disease Research Is Underway

The Parkinson Research Foundation is backing the expansion of clinical services in affiliation with USF. These services include essential aspects of discovering a cure and researching experimental treatments. The mission here is to offer the finest care and knowledge regarding Parkinson’s disease.

In addition to expanding its services, USF’s Neurology Department offers conferences for patients. These conferences focus on treatments, healthy discussions and activities such as occupational, physical and speech therapies.

Additionally, the Parkinson Research Foundation is creating a fellowship in the interest of training the world’s future Parkinson’s disease experts alongside current USF medical professionals such as Dr. Sanchez-Ramos. During the fellowship, trainees would participate in cutting-edge laboratory research and more.

The Movement Disorders Center

Dr. Hauser heads the Movement Disorders Center located on USF’s main campus. This center provides professional evaluations for adults living with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders such as Parkinsonism, restless legs syndrome and dystonia. The Center gives patients and their families the best of care, utilizing a multi-faceted approach that targets the disease while working with the affected individual. The patient will be given care by a team of experts, which includes two movement disorder doctors, clinical coordinators, a social worker and more.
